| dc.description | This study developed and tested "Furtuu," a contextually relevant, user-friendly mobile application designed to provide comprehensive SRH education to school-going adolescents and youth in Jimma Town, Ethiopia. The application was developed using a cross-platform framework (Flutter) to ensure compatibility with both Android and iOS devices. Its content, available in local languages (Amharic and Afaan Oromo) and accessible offline, was aligned with national priorities and local culture. It addressed key SRH topics, including contraception, STIs, menstrual health, and SRHR, to increase awareness and foster positive attitudes. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Adolescents and youth represent a critical demographic in the transition from childhood to adulthood, yet they disproportionately suffer from sexual and reproductive health (SRH) ill-health due to a lack of adequate knowledge to make informed decisions. In low- and middle-income countries like Ethiopia, this manifests in high rates of unmet need for family planning, unintended pregnancies, and sexually transmitted infections. There is an urgent need for innovative, scalable, and youth-friendly strategies to deliver accurate SRH information and improve knowledge and attitudes, thereby enabling this group to exercise their sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR). | |
